With less than 1% of Canadians living north of the 60th parallel, these northern lands often remain a mystery and a fascination for the Southerners. Not always easily accessible and often inhospitable, various wildlife species have nevertheless wan their bet to survive and make the most of the Arctic environment. The photo exhibit "Arctic Wildlife Encounters" is intended to show you the diversity of terrestrial and marine species that have adopted the high latitudes as a place of permanent or temporary residence. Of course, the Lord of the Arctic, the polar bear, is there! So are sixteen other species. You may be surprised to recognize some that also live near you! Come and meet them! They are awaiting your visit! The exhibit holds 18 photographs from France Rivet and Robert Gravel. From January 21 to March 4, 2012 Café de la Maison de la culture de Pointe-aux-Trembles 14001 Notre-Dame Street East Montreal On February 19 @ 1:30PM, France Rivet will be giving a talk (in French). No charges apply but you must make a reservation. Call : 514-872-2240 to reserve your place. France Rivet Her first trip to the Arctic in 2005 ended up being the trigger for France to initiate a major career change. Having travelled to the Canadian & Norwegian North at 7 occasions over the past 5 years, France's main occupation is to share her passion for nature photography and for the Arctic through her company, Polar Horizons. Robert Gravel A native of the Outaouais region, Robert is recognized by the members of the Club de photographie Polarisé de l'Outaouais as their bird photography specialist. He has been seriously devoting his time to photography for 7 years and specializes in nature, bird and landscape photography. To immortalize a scene, Robert never hesitates to get wet or to come dangerously close to the edge of a cliff!
