La Ronge

During our stay in La Ronge we hiked a portion of the Nut Point Trail accompanied by Morris Cook, a Cree originally from Stanley Mission, who acquired all of his knowledge about medicinal plants from his grandmother. Along the way, Morris introduced us to a wide variety of native plants and explained the traditionnal uses for each of them. Amazing!! Our exploration of the area continued on the waters of Lac La Ronge as the owners of Eagle Point Resort proposed that we spend a peaceful afternoon on a house-boat. At supper time, we moored along the shoreline and enjoyed a BBQ. A bald eagle graced us with its presence, observing us perched at the top of a tree. The evening ended with a campfire with Cree songs and legends told by Miles Cook and his wife, Anne. A memorable day!
